The name is an argument: that media are best understood as competition for attention on screens connected to the internet. Phones, tablets, laptops, monitors, television sets—it's all just glass.

  • Netflix's first original series in French will be a political drama called Marseille.
      • The show sounds like a French House of Cards: "It centers on Robert Taro, the 25-year mayor of Marseille who will face in the coming elections the man he chose as his heir." In fact, the creator Dan Franck said in a statement, "Netflix has given us a blank page to create a House of Cards in French that breaks through unspoken hypocrisy."
      • Netflix needs to create original programming in France in order to operate in the country and satisfy regulations. CEO Reed Hastings joked on the company's last earnings call that it would develop "House of Versailles." Pretty much.
      • All eight episodes of Marseille will premiere at the same time late next year.
